Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athletes for November - Diane Creech & Belinda Trussell


Diane Creech and Belinda Trussell, who competed on the European Fall Competition Tour, have been named Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athletes of the Month for November.

Diane of Caistor Centre, Ontario, and Belinda of Stouffville, Ontario, had outstanding results on both stops of the development tour for Canada’s up and coming combinations—Kaposvar CDI3*, Hungary, Oct. 9–11, and Weikersdorf CDI3*, Austria, Oct. 14–18.

Belinda rode her up-and-coming Grand Prix mount Anton (Antaeus x Melit), a nine-year-old German-bred gelding owned by Robyn Eames. The pair earned a score of 67.579 per cent to win at Intermediaire II, score 65.830 per cent in the Grand Prix for sixth place, and finished fifth in the Grand Prix Special with 64.917 per cent.

Diane rode Devon L (De Niro x Wolkenstein II), Douglas Leatherdale’s nine-year-old Hanoverian gelding for a sixth place score of 64.368 per cent at Intermediaire II test and fourth in the Grand Prix with 66.255 per cent and second in the Grand Prix Special with 66.583 per cent.

Diane also competed in the Grand Prix test with Wiona (Weltmeyer x Fruhlingsball), Douglas and Louise Leatherdale’s 12-year-old Hanoverian mare, to finish fourth in the Grand Prix Freestyle with 68.650 per cent.

At Weikersdorf CDI3*, they both scored 67.064 per cent for a second place tie in the Grand Prix. Diane and Devon L earned 69.208 per cent for second place in the Grand Prix Special. Belinda and Anton finished third on 68.417 per cent. Diane was also fourth in the Grand Prix with 64.851 per cent with Wiona. The pair also finished ninth in the Grand Prix Freestyle on with 68.450 per cent

Based on these results, Trussell jumped 105 placings in the FEI World Rider Rankings to 76 from 181, and Creech leaped 235 spots to 78 from 313.
